The iPod has a dimension of 45.2mm × 17.5mm × 7.8mm. It was for sales in the market in brushed silver and black aluminum case, which is similar to the second generation iPod Shuffle. This made a remark that it was the first iPod Shuffle that was in the Black color. It also featured some of the most advanced technologies at that time.
One of the most advanced features in the iPod was the VoiceOver technology that allowed the user to access the playlist contents and its names along with the album names to be spoken in different languages more than 20, with the help of the feature called Text-to-Speech that is implemented in the iTunes 8 and 9. It has also been noticed for the feature that supports multiple playlists while comparing to the previous versions of the iPods that allowed the users to have only one playlist. Overall the third generation iPod was successful due to its that time cutting-edge features.
